Ray Heatwole, Baseball Coach
Coach Heatwole has coached baseball in the Shenandoah Valley for 40 years with time spent at Turner Ashby High School, James Madison University, Spotswood High School, and Bridgewater College. Since retiring in 2005, he has been active in individual baseball instruction at Hit the Ole Apple and various locations around the Valley. He has also worked summer camps around the area. At Turner Ashby High School his record was 303-62-2 with 3 state championships, 11 district, and 6 regional championships. Coach Heatwole has been selected “Coach of the Year” numerous times receiving recognition at the District, State, and National levels.
In his career, Coach Heatwole had coached over 30 players who have signed and played professional baseball. In 2002, The Mid-Atlantic Professional Baseball Scouts Association honored Coach Heatwole with their first ever “High School Coach of the Year Award”.
Ray Heatwole is a member of the Turner Ashby Athletic Hall of Fame as well as the Bridgewater College Athletic Hall of Fame.
