Brian Bocock, Baseball Coach

Coach Bocock made his Major League debut on March 31, 2008 with the San Francisco Giants, starting opening day at shortstop, being the first Giants rookie shortstop to do so since Royce Clayton in 1992. He was also the first Giant to make his Major League Debut on opening day since Will Clark and Robby Thompson did so to start the 1986 season. Prior to his debut, he had only played two years of professional baseball, and was a MLB Futures Game selection in 2007. Coach Bocock was drafted in the 9th round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft as a shortstop out of Stetson University.

Brian is in the career and season top 10 lists for assists, standing 3rd with 203 in the 2006 season. In 2005, Coach Bocock had a 25 game hit streak, placing him second all-time for the longest streak. Brian was a A-Sun All-Freshman team selection in 2004, a first team All-Conference selection in 2005, and a second-team All-Conference selection 2006. He was an A-Sun All-Tournament team selection in 2005, as well as a Gainsville Regional All-Tournament selection the same year. Brian played at Turner Ashby High School and graduated in 2003.
